Why is my Access bank account restricted?
The following are some of the reasons why your access bank account has been restricted:
Fraudulent transactions
Your Access bank account may have been restricted because it was involved in some fraudulent transactions. Once the bank flags your bank account for fraud, it is usually within their rights to restrict it.
All you will need to do is visit the bank and prove that there was nothing fraudulent about your transactions and your account will be unrestricted.
Update/upgrade reasons
Your bank account may have also been restricted because it requires an upgrade. An upgrade in the sense that, you will need to provide a few documents so your bank account can be upgraded.
This upgrade might be because you have surpassed the limit that your bank account can hold. This is very much common with student accounts.
Once you provide the required documents, your bank account will be unrestricted.
Liquidation
If your bank account tis being liquidated i.e. if you are removing all the money from your account, the it might get restricted.
This is usually done to prevent fraud on your account, in case you are not the one withdrawing all the money out of your account. In this case, you will not lose all the money in your account.
Once you let the bank know that you are the one initiating the transactions, then your bank account will be unrestricted.
Dormant account
If you have left your account dormant for too long, it may be restricted. By dormant, I mean leaving your account idle for a period of 6 months or more, without performing any transaction from it.
Most banks will restrict your bank account if they discover that it has been inactive for a period of 6 months or more.
